Centre for Osteoporosis and Osteoarticular Diseases was established in 1991. At first, it was called an Internal and Rheumatic Diseases and Chronic Pain Clinic, and then jointly - Scientific Centre and Clinic. The double character is due to the statute of the organisation, which consists of a Clinic, where patients are treated, and a research Centre being a scientific enterprise mainly involved in clinical trials. As a medical institution, we continue the activities of the Clinic of Internal Diseases and Rheumatology at the Medical University in Bialystok (1968-1982) and the Department of Internal Diseases and Osteoarthrology at the Sniadecki Hospital in Bialystok (1982-2000). Besides, we pursue the scientific interests of Professor Janusz E. Badurski (CV) and his Team. These include osteoporosis and metabolic bone  diseases, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, painful conflicts in the mobile system, tissue vascularity disorders, especially atherosclerosis, as well as theirs pharmacological treatment and ozonotherapy. This is reflected both in our scientific work and the preferences of the patients we treat (see: Publication), and in the profile of the clinical tests in which we have been participating since the beginning of our activity (Clinical Trials).

The majority of our patients suffer from arthritis, joints and spine osteoarthritis, spine pains, discopathy, neuralgia, painful static syndromes (osteoporotic vertebral fracture), obliterative artherosclerosis.

Our Centre is equipped with comprehensive devices to diagnose bone diseases (DXA densitometers - Hologic QDR 4500SL, DTX100 and Ubis 3000 ultrasound scanner), heart (ECG) and blood vessels (UDT), as well as to treat pain (electrostimulators, TENS devices, lasers, manipulators) and vascular diseases, including those of the posterior pole of the eyeball (ozonators). The Centre is the seat of the Polish Foundation of Osteoporosis Executive Board (PFO), and the the office of the Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly magazine „Postępy Osteoartrologii” (Progress in Osteoarthrology), published by the Foundation and the Polish Osteoarthrology Society (PTOA).
